Lemi Ghariokwu, born in 1955 is a self taught graphics designer, who is best known for creating 26 original album covers for the recordings of music legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Lemi brings a lot of cultural awareness, political narration and realism into his works whilst utilizing a combination of bright colours.

“As a creative mind, i see myself as a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars having a divine role to play in the upliftment of humanity and it’s intrinsic values.”

In the last 35 years Lemi has designed over 2000 album covers including covers for Bob Marley, Gilles Peterson, Sony Okosuns, Miriam Makeba, Lucky Dube, Akoya Afrobeat, Dele Sosimi, 2face Idibia and Yaaba Funk.

He was recently commissioned to create cover art for the promotional vans used in FELA on Broadway
